The landscape of players on the Norwegian shelf has changed dramatically from the 1970s, when the major international oil companies dominated, to today, when StatoilHydro is the operator for 80 per cent of production, Petoro manages a third of the oil and gas reserves, while the major international companies and a number of new and smaller players compete for the remaining positions. Petoro’s annual report for 2007 has taken a closer look at this development. In addition to the usual figures and reports, the annual report also features an interview with Burckhard Bergmann. He was the head of Norway’s largest single customer, E-ON Ruhrgas, until he retired in February.
