Today, Norwegian Oil and Gas has published a new Climate Roadmap for the Norwegian oil and gas industry towards 2030 and 2050.
Petoro supports the Paris agreement with a net zero emission target and has contributed to the work with the climate road map. Petoro's President and CEO Grethe Moen is satisfied with the broad agreement on a 40% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions as early as by 2030, and that the target for 2050 is zero net emissions.
Equinor also presented its ambitions today as regards climate measures up to 2050, in line with the Norwegian Oil and Gas roadmap. Equinor is the operator for about 85 per cent of the production from the SDFI portfolio.
“Based on the SDFI’s significant portfolio on the Norwegian shelf, Petoro has a considerable responsibility for contributing to achieve the sector’s joint goals,” says Moen. Electrification of fields is and will continue to be a key instrument for achieving the sector’s objectives, and Petoro holds major ownership interests in several of the fields where electrification is planned in the coming years. “We will be a driving force for realising these projects, and we look forward to working together with the operators and the partners,” says Moen.
