Education: MSc in business economics, University of Agder, specialising in business analysis from NHH in Bergen.
Career: Mæland has broad experience within the oil industry and comes from the position of Director Financial Reporting and Analysis in ConocoPhillips Norway since January 2014. With the exception of two years (2011 to 2013) as Finance Manager in Noreco, Mæland has been in various positions nationally and internationally in Phillips and ConocoPhillips since 1998.
Finance and Market: The department is responsible for financial management of Petoro’s activity and the State’s direct financial interest (SDFI). The department is also responsible for preparing budgets and long-term forecasts for use in the company’s planning and strategy work. Profitability assessments in connection with investment decisions and analyses of other relevant business issues are also an important part of the department’s area of responsibility.
The department also has responsibility for monitoring that Equinor conducts the sale of the State’s petroleum together with its own, in accordance with the marketing instructions given to Equinor ASA. The primary goals of the marking are to ensure the highest possible value creation from the State’s oil and gas production, and an equitable distribution of income and costs between Equinor and the State. The department is also responsible for market analysis, which supports both the follow-up of the marketing instructions and decisions related to investments in fields and infrastructure.
